It's been 6 months since I launched my Patreon page, and I wanted to give an update. Things have been good there, and after a few months of posting some exclusive stories and archived stories, I finally got into the weeds with the next chapter of "Feral and the Ghost Skater", which is called "Damaged" and peeks in on what's been going on with Feral's alter-ego, Grant. Grant is the sad-sack of the bunch. the rest of the characters are having fun, but he just can't find the joy in his situation. Poor fella.

Anyways, as so often does, life got in the way of this story. The current political season got me all worked up and I felt like I had something to say, so rather than continue to engage in social media flame-wars, I decided to make a comic about how I came to be the political creature I am today, and how that informs my views on this current season. I hope you will take the time to read it, and share it with whomever you feel might enjoy it. I'm not a political scientist, nor an english major, so please don't judge it as if it's a professional essay. It's a comic book.

Feral and the Ghost Skater: Stay Bullet

I am very proud to be the recipient of the 2015 Queer Press Grant.

This was the forth time I applied and the third time with this particular story.

I don't think I would have won if I hadn't taken the story writing process more seriously than I have in the past. All of my comic writing to this point had been done in the form of sketching in the panels, and I've found that has worked well enough for shorter pieces, but Stray Bullet is the longest narrative I've written to date. This third time applying for the grant and the process of "selling" my story to the judges (after some experience with writing since the last time I had applied) allowed me to see this story as a whole for the first time, rather than the chunk in front of me at the moment. 

Now I knew I needed to withdraw the pages I've published so far in favor of writing the story as a whole before committing any to more art. What's been seen will still be in there, but not necessarily 100% as it is now... and not entirely canon. 

If you have any of the self-published copies of Feral and the Ghost Skater #1 or #2, consider them collectors items.  I have a couple of copies of #1 left, and half a dozen of #2, they will be for sale until they are gone*, but after that I'm excited to finish writing and present you with a story that is as solid as it can be and that I will be and am very proud of.

So far I've written enough for four issues of 30 pages apiece, and it isn't finished yet! It's getting more personal all the time, and I'm very pleased with what I am doing with this book. Where is it going? 

All I can say is that the end will leave every character changed radically. 

If you are new to the world of Feral and the Ghost Skater, Hard to Swallow comics #3 and Hard to Swallow comics #4 are still available, and feature early black and white stories of these characters (along with other short stories by myself and Justin Hall). Bent Comix Sampler also has a 4 page full color "primer" on the characters, which gives a good introduction to many who will appear in Stray Bullet.

* According to the creator's inventory list on Prism Comics' website shop, they have a stash of Feral and the Ghost Skater #1. Also, Isotope Comics in San Francisco has a handful, last time I checked. Ask to see my toilet seat painting while you are there!

Original Art Pages for $ale

    Hey there, I am going to offer original line drawings for my comics on sale here.

 The first batch is the FERAL story, "Bonin' in the Boneyard", which was the first story to feature Feral and the Ghost Skater. It was published in 2006 in "Hard to Swallow comics" #1, as well as a couple other shorts stories of mine which were completely digital art. The line drawing of the cover of the book was sold at San Diego Comic-con in 2011. Each page is 11" by 14" (with the art taking up 9" by 13") on smooth bristol. I believe this was the first piece I used a Copic marker on. The pages range from $40 to $60 each, and I'll handle the postage unless you are out of the continental U.S..

Short Attention Span Theatre/ Stray Bullet page 10

Hey it's been a while since I have had a comic out, I've been busy with my day job and also helping to put Bent-con together. As of today I give myself permission to indulge my ADD and to post/publish pages from the half dozen stories I am working on in my head as they are completed, not chaining myself to one or another, which tends to get me stuck, creatively.

Stories I am working on are:
Stray Bullet - Continuing stories of Feral, the Ghost Skater, and Doug.
Code Blue - Zane and Gunnar and sex-life after death.
Loose - the Ghost Skater's journey through the otherworlds to keep a crazed Feral in check.
the Rubicon - my sci-fi epic. a martian cat-burglar becomes an agent of freedom.
the Curious Case of the Persuasive Pup - a "Lovecraftian" tale written by Daniel Stewart and myself.
the Old Man and the Fish - a young man's new pet has a very old and evil soul, written by Steve Lozier.
oh, and of course;
Rainbow Warrior - my ongoing strip for the Fight magazine, about a gay MMA fighter

Stray Bullet

Hey there, just thought I’d throw out a tease of the FULL COLOR comic work I am chipping away at.

This is a panel from “Stray Bullet”, the next storyline in the Feral world. It will be in Hard to Swallow Comics vol.2 issue 1, along with “Code Blue”. In this panel Doug is giving the Ghost Skater some instructions on using a computer to go online. Give him some slack, he’s been dead for 18 years!

Bent Comix Sampler

Hey all, just as an FYI, I’ve been proud to have instigated the BENT COMIX group, a co-op of gay adult comic book creators to hopefully have strength in numbers and a louder voice and larger presence. Hard to swallow #4 back cover

For those who don’t know, Justin Hall and I take turns with the front and back covers of our comic book Hard to Swallow. The issue in production now (#4), Justin is doing the front, so I am doing the back. I just finished this one, and I love it. I’ve had this page from a small newspaper with kids portraying different emotions in a grid, kind of a guide to what feelings look like. I’ve had it on my fridge for years, always wanting to do something with it someday. The current Feral story has the biggest cast I’ve worked with so far, so it seemed like a perfect situation to use this layout for a cover. I tried to switch the emotions up with characters that wouldn’t normally be seen with that particular expression on his face…
