call to artists Bent-Con 2012

As you may of may not know, I am the curator of the pop-up art gallery at the 3rd annual Bent-Con, an LGBT (and their friends) oriented comic-book, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, gaming (et.al.) convention, taking place this year Nov. 30th thru Dec. 2nd in Burbank, California.
Are you an artist? Know one who might want to enter?

SD comic-con

I'll be in San Diego for Comic-con over the next few days. It's the first time in a while I am not going as "marginalized publications".  I'll mainly be there as a promoter of Bent-Con, recruiting artists for the gallery show and for the contest to name the iconic characters (see card below). Also looking for sponsors and what-not. Bent-con will have a space at the Prism booth (#2144).

Secondarily, I'll be there as a Judge Dredd fan. The film "Dredd" comes out in september, and 2000ad, rebellion, and IDW are all having a big JD presence: panels, signings, et al.. Plus an advance screening of the film that I won tickets to.
Next year we will revert to our regularly scheduled convention schedule of tabling at a booth selling my wares.
See you there!

and another thing...

Something else that has kept me busy the past week is designing the teaser flyer for Bent-con 2012, and since we have a theme this year, being 2012 (as in the Mayan end of the world), and emphasis on the world since this year will see more international guests, we needed new artwork. I intended it to be a lot rougher than this, but ended up enjoying playing around in photoshop and the result was something very "artsy".

I am pretty happy with it.

I would also be remiss if I didn't acknowledge some inspiration taken from Brute/Aidan Hughes' "Godlike" artwork for KMFDM.
